Seeking a Dr in Hampton Roads, VA

I just found out that I'm pregnant with my first child. I'm married to an active duty military but don't want to use the hospital on base. I have medical insurance through my company as my primary but I want to be able to use Tricare as my secondary. Any suggestions on good doctors that accept Tricare?

What can I do next?

HI M.,
Congratulations!
When I used Tricare I went to Dr. Casanova(female) in the Oyster Point Newport News area and loved her...there were other docs in there I also liked; the practice was busy, but good and I didn't have any insurance or filing issues.
If they no longer take Tricare, you can try my current doc, Dr. Cordes(female), in Oyster Point Business Park.
If you need more info, let me know and I'll look up the phone #s
Blessings,
L.

Hi M.,

I think the Birthing Center at DePaul in Norfolk may take Tricare as I have some friends in the military that have given birth there.

Blair Conger is a Nurse Practitioner and works at WomensCare Center at DePaul ###-###-####

Best to you and make sure you get exact birth time!

M.,

I used Dr. George Rector and really liked him.
He has offices both in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach and can be found in the phone book.
Good luck

Hi there,

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is wonderful news!! :) We used and totally LOVE- I mean I honestly can't say enough good things about them, the midwives at Depaul, they are in a practice with several OB's, its called Womancare Center and the number is ###-###-####. The don't officially take Tricare if that is your only insurance but what they do is have you pay the maternity fee ( aobut 2,000) up front then you file for your own reimbursments as you go along. But since you have other insurance that probably won't be an issue for you. The midwives, Blair Conger, Nell Dowell and Erin Smith, are AMAZING the care you get is SO much more momma centered, loving and wonderful than most OB's. They also have a Birthing Center for delivery, its in the hospital right down the hall from labor and delivery, it has queen size beds, a hot tub in each room, it really feels homey and nice. Like I said I can't say enough good things about them, I delivered my second child there and it was WONDERFUL!!! I didn't know about them with my first of would have had him there too. If you need further info you can email me at ____@____.com luck to you!

I went to Dr. Mullins and King for my prenatal care, they were great. They are located on the corner of Jefferson & Denbigh behind the Walgreens in Newport News. They take Tricare standard
