Seeking an Outstanding OB GYN

I moved to Omaha from Lincoln a little over a year ago and I LOVED my OB GYN and have continued to see him while in Omaha. I am now pregnant and think it's about time I find one in Omaha. I live in the midtown area but that does not dictate where I go for my OB/GYN. Any recommendations and/or advice would be much appreciated.

What can I do next?

HI if you want Alegent try Dr. Gena Harper Hearsion at 84th and 370 in Papillion, near the Hospital. For the Methodist Health system try Dr. Rebecka Jacoby at 156th and Dodge. These are the 2 ladies that delivered my 2 girls. I am feeding my 9 week old right now otherwise I would look up there numbers. hope this helps. M.

I moved to omaha buck in march and had to find an ob to give birth to my son and I went to Dr. Erin Evens through Alegent Health. She is located on Center and about 79th or so. She made me feel real comfortable since I was new and used to my ob/gyn back in Oregon that had been my doctor for 9 years. I know how hard it is to switch doctors. Hope this helps.

I also see Dr. Bossert and think that he is great! I have seen him since I have been in Omaha since 2001 and felt lucky to find him. He spends time in the appts. with you and is easy to talk to. During this pregnancy, we have brought our daughter along a couple of times and he enjoys seeing her and how she is growing. Dr. Simmons was the doctor on call when I delivered our daughter so she checked on me in the hospital and she was also easy to talk to. She also covered one of Dr. Bossert's appts which I could not change the time of and she was fine to talk with there also. The nurses are great and I have enjoyed going to both offices.

You have to go to Dr. Robert Bossert. He is THE BEST!! I am like you, I tend to get really attached to my doctors. I used to live in Kansas City and wanted to bring my obgyn with me! Luckily, I found Dr. Bossert about five years ago and adore him just as much. He is with the group Kolbeck, Nabity, Bossert and Simmons. They have offices at Lakeside (168th and Center) and Immanuel (72nd and Ames area??).
Dr. Nabity actually ended up delivering my son and I have talked to Dr. Simmons when she was on-call when I had questions about my pregnancy. Honestly, I would be comfortable seeing any one of them in this group. The nurses are terrific too! I always leave there feeling like I am their favorite patient. The Lakeside office number is ###-###-####. You could do a meet and greet with him before making your decision. They encourage that kind of thing.

I go to Dr. Susan Westcott. She is located at the Women's Center at 90th and Dodge. I, like you, moved here from Lincoln...loved my doctor in Lincoln...but felt like when I was pregnant it was time to make the switch to an Omaha doctor. I was a NICU nurse in Lincoln so I knew a lot about the doctors in Lincoln, but knew nothing of the doctors in Omaha. After talking to some of the nurses that work at the NICU at Children's, she was recommended to me. I really like her and she knows her stuff. That's what is the most important to me. Coming from a medically minded person, I know that I can trust her to keep myself and my baby safe. Her number is ###-###-####. She is usually pretty busy, but I've always considered it a good thing...it means that a lot of people really like her!

Go to Marilynn Lowe CNM or any of the midwives at Methodist or UNMC. You will have an wonderful experience, different and more empowering than with an OB. I have been to many good OB's but none has been like my experience with a midwife. Marilynn made such a difference. All my referrals to her who have had OB's previously couldn't believe the difference and how it made such a wonderful pregnancy and birth experience.

I see Dr. Gemma Simmons with Kolbeck, Nabbity, Bossert & Simmons. She is wonderful. Actually, all the doctors at that practice are great. I see a couple of ladies already mentioned Dr. Bossert. He actually delivered my first baby because Dr. Simmons was out of town. I also have 2 friends who see him. (They call him the "hot doctor"!) You can't go wrong with the doctors at that office.

I absolutely LOVE my OB. His name is Ben Ryder. He is on about 86th and Center by the Canfields area. I worked for an OB for a few years and learned a lot about the ob's in this area and he is by far on of the best. He is so calm. I had a little bit of a rough delivery and let me tell you he was so calm through the entire thing which made me and my husband feels so comfortable. I know a lot of very seasoned nurses and they all said if I was having anymore children I would for sure see Dr. Ryder. His office staff and nurse are wonderful as well. They are very good at getting back to you if you have any questions and they don't make you feel stupid for asking them either. Oh and when I went in for my regular visits I was in and out in no more then 20 minutes. I loved it I never had to wait; he was always on time so I just always went over my lunch hour and always had plenty of time. He is just wonderful. The number to the office is ###-###-####. And another bonus even if he is not on call over night he still does all his own deliveries.
