Hello mama's,
I am looking for a great driving school for my 16 yr old daughter. My son went to Vista Ridge Driving school and they never took him on the highway and for a long time was scared of going on the highway. I am looking for a school who will offer a well rounded class.
If you would please tell me the school you liked best and why. Thank you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your input! I have decided to enroll my daughter into One Way Driving School in Lewisville. There were several positive reviews online as well as several others including Kelli's response on here about this school. I also called them and they do drive on the highway unlike Vista Ridge school. (Vista Ridge does not offer highway driving to anyone, also reviews have been bad for them.) One way driving were also very nice to deal with. So thanks again to those that responded!

Kris-

my son went to ONE WAY Driving School in Lewisville a couple of years ago. I just signed up my 15 year old daughter to begin her classes on Monday. We had a good experience with them.

Hope this helps-

I don't know where you live, but both of my kids went to Carol Watkins Driving School in Keller. I wouldn't go anywhere else. And, I sure wouldn't do the home study.

Also, are you aware of the new laws that have gone into effect? They have to have their permits one year before getting their licenses.

My second daughter just finished at Academy Driving School in Euless on Harwood/157. She drove all over, including the highways. What I gathered from my daughter is that they didn't really touch on parking all that much, but all around, it was good and they had classes for 2-3 weeks, then did their drive time.
Good luck :)

I don't have any suggestions, but I am curious about the highway thing. I wonder that if a student mentions trepidation about driving on the highway if the school would just avoid it as a safety measure, especially since it's not required for the test. Just a thought - good luck with the next one!

Ours went to Metro Driving School and they drove to Ft. Worth in rush hour traffic, on Friday night, while storming. They all got a lot of great driving experiences. Good Luck!

Hi Kris:
Our daughter did the Sears driving course up at the Golden Triangle Mall in Denton. It was very thorough. It was a little over $300.00 for the course. They did lots of driving on the local streets, getting on and off the highway, lots of country winding roads, and even a session of night driving. She got a good start, but they always say that it's up to the parents to keep up with the practicing to build up their confidence! I love the fact that they let the students do their actual driving test there. In a couple of months, our daughter will only have to wait at the DMV for her picture. The stress of the road test is done and she just has to hand over the paperwork to prove it! That will be a huge time saver.
Best of luck to you and your daughter! C.
