I am looking for inexpensive dance classes for my daughter. She is only 2 1/2 so, to me, the $200+ per month for dance class is rediculous. I am open to the type of dance. I am not trying to prepare her for Julliard, I just want her to have an activity other than preschool (which is already too expensive for 4 hours a week...) that she can enjoy. I have noticed that having a toddler and wanting them to be active has become such a luxury! I understand that the economy isn't doing so hot and everyone is trying to keep their head above water and please don't get me wrong as I am not a cheapskate or a lazy mom. I am more than willing to participate and volunteer and do whatever it takes to help keep the cost down. I have tried looking at the community center and they don't have dance classes (only sports). Anyone have any suggestions?
You might try looking into other parks and rec departments CLOSE to your area. I kow here in RanchoCordova they offer dances classes through our parks and rec and Ithink at one time they had classes at the center in McKinley Park! Good luck and I know what you mean about extra culricular activities becoming more of a luxury!!
My daughter goes to Cast & Company in Roseville (Corner of Vernon & Lincoln streets). Your daughters age group is a Mommy & Me class on Thurday afternoons at 4:45-ish. We did that for a year and now she is in a Tap/Jazz combo on her own. Lessons are $45 per month, which is great for the budget. It is a small studio with a close family atmosphere. Lisa and Carrie, the owners, are wonderful. Highly recommend it.

My daughter loves dancing with Ms. Nicole at Flip 2 It Sports Center in Roseville. It runs $55 a month for a 45 minute class once a week. Have Fun!
We go to Dance Elite in Rocklin its about $40 per month but well worth the money my 3 year old daughter loves it and the recitals they do twice a year are so much fun!

I have 3 kids, 1 girl and 2 boys. My daughter has been going to Rocklin Dance Center since she was 2 1/2 years old and she is now 6. She started with a wiggles and giggles (pre-ballet), she has done hip-hop and now she wants to try a lyrical class. My oldest son takes a hip hop class there and my younger son will start there this year. They have quite a variety and the prices start at $45.00 for a month. The older you get and the different classes you take are a little bit more, but not much.

I'm not sure where you are located but my daughter- same age takes ballet through Roseville Recreation. It's the cutest thing ever. I would be sure to check out your surrounding communities, you don't have to live in the area to attend, and maybe there is one you just haven't found yet. It's usually just an extra 10 dollars if you are outside the area. I think we are paying 80.00 for 10 classes or something close to it. That's a total steal for dance classes and the teacher is fantastic. Good luck
