I have been using Dove unsented soap on my daughters skin since she was a baby. She broke out when I used the Aveno. I also use Vanicream lotion on her as well. The vanicream has to be ordered by the pharmacy - the cost is $20.00 for a big jug, but it really works well. It has been a life saver for me.

Oh my gosh. Arbonne's ABC baby products are perfect for you. Pure, safe and botanical. The hair and body wash helps with cradle cap, dry skin and ezcema. The diaper rash cream is great for what is is called but also works on mosquito bites. There is also sunscreen and baby oil that isn't greasy. I can send you a sample or help you order it right away.

We have a long family history on both sides of sensitive skin. We use Vanicream and basis soap. They are both great. I have actually been using basis since I was very young on my face and I use to work in neonatal at the hospital and we used basis on the premature babies. It did wonders for my little one during her first year. You do not have to have prescriptions for either one of the products, but the vanicream is behind the pharmacy counter. I usually get it at the target pharmacy. It runs about 14.00 for a large tub with a pump. The soap is about 2.00 a bar and you can usually get it at the drug store or sometimes I can even find it at wal-mart. It is in the beauty supplies with the adult face lotions, scrubs, etc..... I hope this helps. We also loved all the clothing, hats, suits, etc... with spf for summer. They really helps us out all summer long. Good Luck!

Our son had a lot of skin issues until he was about 16 months old when we finally took him up to the Childrens Hospital. Since we have started using Dove white bar soap (we use this to wash everything from his head to his toes) and Vanicream (I think that is the spelling) we have not had many issues. If he seems to start getting really dry patches we use Aquafor (again not sure if spelling correctly) for a couple of days and it seems to really help. Good luck!

I like to use Cetaphil cream, not the lotion. It is thicker, has no scent or perfumes and moisturizes great. I use this for my son who has very bad skin. I also like the aveno products. Aquaphor is also great in a thin layer when it gets really bad. Bathing every other day helps tremenously. Good luck.

My son gets really bad eczema in the cold months and is allergic to some lotions. When my son was a year old, our doctor suggested Eucerin. It's a very mild, moisturizing, hypoallergenic, lotion. It works well for my when my hands are really dry, but my son ended up not taking well to it. He had a bit of an allergic reaction and got bumps all over. I would suggest trying that because it's a good, (relatively) cheap option. When that didn't work, my doctor suggested Cetaphil. We've been using it ever since. It works well for my son, though we do still have to use a prescription hydrocortizone cream on his small breakouts. I've been really happy with Cetaphil because not only is it a good lotion, but they've got 'soap' as well. The soap is actually a non-soap cleanser, so there's not much in it to irritate very sensitive skin.

Arbonne ABC baby line works great for sensitive skin. My son had super-sensitive skin as a newborn and it was the only thing I would use. You can go to their website at www.arbonne.com. It's a little pricey, but a small amount goes a long way! They also make diaper rash cream and baby oil, along with their body/hair wash and lotion.

Hope this helps!

You need to find someone in your area that makes there own soaps and lotions and buy some unscented 100% natural soap with goats milk. And some good homemade lotion.

I have made my own soap and lotion for years. My husband and son will not use any thing else. I have a number of returning customers because it is so much milder on your skin. Most like scent but you do not need it. That is what sometimes cause skin problems.

Take a look at the ingredients in most soap bars. Almost all store bought soaps have alcohol in them and that includes baby soap. Alcohol is needed to keep the bars hard in any conditions. This also causes our skin to dry and flake. Good homemade bars (not melt and pour soaps) can not sit in standing water for to long because there is no alcohol. At our house just keep our soap bars in a dish between the shower curtains or as for my son he has a hanging soap dish.
Did you also know that Most store bought soaps contain almost no glycerine's because when it gets to that stage of processing the factories skim off the glycerin and replace it with petrolatum bases products. This is so they can make the bars cheaper. If there bars were made with all natural olive oils, shea butter, avocado oils, palm oils, cocoa butter, etc. you would not be able to afford the bars because of there high over head costs, (factories, management, shipping. proper temperature storage, etc.) After all that, then they add all the extra by products, colors and scents. BAD NEWS..

Another thing to think about. Lots of suds does not make a soap better. To many suds can actually dry out a persons skin. Its better to have a creamy bar with maybe a little Vit. E or Prime Rose oil add.

I hope this helps a little. Just make sure if you buy a homemade soap that all ingredients are listed and that it is not a melt and pour soap. Would love to share more with you if you are interested. I learned from a dear friend and I know you could make your own too.

We use Cetaphil for bathtime and unscented baby-oil-gel or the Aveeno for moisturizing. The Cetaphil keeps his skin from getting too dry. Best of luck!

I like the 365 brand bar soap (from Whole Foods) - if you get unscented or olive oil there are only 2 or 3 ingredients in it. It works for us and it's inexpensive.

We went to the dermatologist last year for my son's extreme dry skin. Some of what she recommended and has been working well for us is:
* humidifier on throughout night in the child's room at all times that the heater is on in the house...so fall through Spring.
* Aquafor after a bath
* Eucerin cream (not lotion as that is water based and more drying to the skin but rather a cream that comes in a tub) when not right after a bath. once or twice a day.
(Walmart's generic Equate brand is actually really good too at almost a quarter of the price, so we're using that kind now. Walgreen's generic was not so good.)
* Aveeno CREAMY baby wash
* All Free and Clear laundry detergent
Best wishes to you!

Both of my children have eczema. I have found that Aveeno bath soap works wonders for us. Make sure the water is luke warm and we bathe every other night (unless extremely dirty!) I found very warm water and nightly bathing makes it worse. Also, I use Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream from Wal-Mart. It works great on both kids. I have found that the Eucerin Cream was hard to put on the kids and the Aquaphor was pretty greasy. Gentle Naturals also has a baby eczema wash. We have used that too. It works well but I found I got more baths out of the Aveeno and it worked just as well paired with the right lotion. Good luck!

Hi D., my daughter and I have sensitive skin. I was using the Huggies brand Sensitive skin and wash for my daughter (who is now 5) and it worked great! But now I can't seem to find it anywhere. Now, we both use Dove beauty bar for sensitive skin and also Eucerin lotion or Cetaphil lotion. For the really dry areas, I use the Eucerin cream, it is thick. I have found the Cetaphil cream to be thinner, so I might try that for my face when the Ponds cream I am currently using, runs out. Anyway, if you keep your eye out, there are sales on these products at either Wal-mart or Walgreens every couple of weeks or so.

You could also try Dr. Bronner's. They make a baby bar soap that works well. I use Kiss My Face for myself and Burt's baby Bee's for my daughter and we both have sensitive skin.
I like the idea of making your own though.

I've tried Eucerin, Aquafor, Arbonne, and Aveeno for eczema- so basically everything that is regularly marketed for sensitive skin.
Finally our doctor recommended Cetaphil and that has worked wonders for us! I would use the organic and natural products but I just can't afford those. I hear that they are great for sensitive skin too since they do not contain harsh chemicals that dry out their skin. For me it was between Cetaphil and California Baby but Cetaphil was a better buy in terms of price.

Arbonne's baby products have a 0 rating for allergic reaction - they're one of the best things you can use for sensitive skin. I used to sell Arbonne and still have a website where it's easy to order if you wanted to try them out. They are not too expensive, and they last longer than anything else too. Let me know if you'd like the info. I don't use anything else on my kids. It's really helped keep my daughter's eczema under control since it broke out a month or so ago.

You may want to try Arbonne's Baby Care system. The system is dermatologist and pediatrician tested and works great at moisturizing and locking moisture into the skin! It is formulated without mineral oils, dyes, chemical fragrances, or nut oils! Read a letter from a 15 year veteran in pediatric medicine who "prescribes" the ABC system for all her excema patients at www.kristenstemple.myarbonne.com. Click on "Discover ABC". I use it on my little one with mild excema and it works awesome. The Body oil is terrific! Soaks into the skin so fast, there is NO oily residue like other oils or heavy creams...the best you can get! Arbonne's products are also botanically based, so they are safer than OTC products. You will spend a little more, but since you have to use so little to get great results, the products last a long time, and the cost per use ends up about the same as average OTCs. Definitely worth it. Many MamaSource mamas have purchased from me for help with their children's excema. You must check them out! Hope this helps and I hope you find what you are looking for. Good Luck to you and your little one.

Both my daughter (4 mos) and I have very sensitive skin and I've tried several things with her and found the best to be California Baby. I LOVE IT. You can find the line at Earthly Goods in Gurnee or at Whole Foods. Target has also started carrying it in the infant section. I've used the Super Sensitive Shampoo/Body wash and lotion w/o fragrance and also the Calming Cream lotion for her chapped face from drool and baby acne- it cleared it right up and no problems since then. It is free of sulfates, DEA and no nut oils, gluten, soy, oat or dairy. I highly recommend it and at the natural foods store, they said it was one of the most popular lines.

Eucerin or Auqaphor (same makers) are great lotions for sensitive skin. Another suggestion is to give your child a massage with mineral oil (or baby oil) BEFORE bathing them or place a couple drops (sparingly as it is slippery) into the bath water. This will keep your child's skin hydrated and protected from being dried out from the soap. Then end the bathtime with a Eucerin or Aquaphor (if severly dried out, or after swimming)lotion.

Hope that helps.

I have a son with very sensitvie skin and exzema. when he was a infant we tried everything. It seemed that products that were made for sensitve skin made things worse.
Here is our routine and what we use.
Soap- dove unsented
a.m.- pure aloe
after bath or shower- aquaphor
his skin has been great since and we never had to use any steriod creams for his exzema either.
good luck
