My DD has proclaimed that she wants a "puppy dog" themed party next month. I am okay with that but need some great ideas on how to pull it off. Do you guys have ideas for food, games, activities, decorations, etc. that would work with that theme?

Thanks in advance for all the wonderful ideas that I am sure to recieve.

What can I do next?

I offer in-home Build-a-Bear type parties and do doggy parties quite a bit. With my parties the children actually stuff the animals with their own "paws", no machines needed. It's quite fun and they children LOVE making their own new doggy- and then, of course, that is their awesome take home gift, as well.
I come in and take over the party for about 45 minutes to an hour and the children stay busy and entertained the entire time. It makes it nice for you, as the host mommy, because you can sit back and relax and not worry about the entertainment. :)

There is a reciepe for puppy chow on line. Do a search. "Puppy Chow Recipe". I saw dog plates at our local Kmart here. They may have the theme online. There is so many ideas on the internet for theme parties and what to do for any kind of theme. I copy/pasted one of them for you....but there is always more to look for. Here is From an AD :

They say a dog is man (and child's) best friend. When my daughter turned two we threw a dog themed party for her. The invitations were printed on laser paper covered with different types of dogs. The cake was made to look like a park with dogs playing on it. I used a basic chocolate cake with a green area for grass decorated with very small stuffed dogs and plastic trees. Party fare included homemade dog bone cookies. Hats were dog ears constructed of felt. The kids played a variety of games. They played a water ball toss where a picture of a dog was mounted to a bucket of water. They also played a Simon says type game where they acted like dogs, including barking, rolling over panting etc. The kids went home with dog beanie babies

1. This is called find the dog bones. Write up simple clues to find the dog bones. example: I am near the tall grass.
2. have the cake shaped like a doggie biscuit
3.draw a big doggie and pin the collar on the doggie
4. fill a small sandbox with plastic dog bones and each girl has to find them blindfolded
5. baby in the dark ( doggie version) give the kids a blank piece of paper and have them draw with their eyes CLOSED. Doggie eyes, doggie nose, doggie collar. Decide who did the best the sillyiest etc
6. doggie type shaped candy in jello
7. get a butterfly net and catch the ballon ( filled with air) pretend its a doggie toy. I have a slightly different version I made up and my kids and neighbor kids LOVE it.
8. go to Michael's craft store they have cardboard cut into different shapes get one that is a house. Pretend it is a dog house. Cover it with gliter glue, dog stickers and whatever. I did this at my 6yr son b-day party and 4 yr daughter used different shaped cardboard. They LOVED it ...even some of the wilder children.
9. I have plenty more ideas..email me if you want more.

My cousin just had a dog themed party. Of course, they had hot "dogs", but she also served "Puppy Chow". We have eaten this for years in our family; I am not sure if it is still on the Chex Mix box, but if you want the recipe, I'll be happy to send it you! She also made a CD for the favors with like 6 songs on it.... Who Let the Dogs Out, You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog, BINGO, Where, oh Where has my little dog gone, and my mind is going blank on the others...! Hope this helps!!

I did this for my son's party when he was 1. I made "doggie bags" for lunch and put their names on them. I used regular brown lunch bags. I also made small individual doggie bone cakes that I lightly decorated with chocolate icing with a leaf decorator tip and sprinkled with small colorful doggie bone candy sprinkles. I then place the cake on top of some co co puff cereal (looks like dog food) on one side of some actual dog bowls that I got from the dollar store and place ice cream cups on the other. The cake pan, sprinkles I found online. If you send me your email, I'll send you some pics if you like. Then as a game we played pin the tail on the dog with a cut out of a dog and a tail on poster board.
Anyway you do it, they will love it!
Best Regards,
C.
