I've heard various moms talk about and caution about the estrogen in soy milk. Does anyone have a reliable web site for infomation I could read?

What can I do next?

I agree 1000% with Becky W's post. I would also google Dr. Russel Blaylock and see what he has to say on the subject.
There is alot of info out there.
Some other alternatives to soy and cow's milk are: Almond milk, goat's milk and even cashew milk can be used for cooking. A friend of mine uses raw cow's milk to make yogurt and butter. I only wish I were that ambitious!
Happy researching!

I just spoke with my Dr. about this. There was a study done in I think 2006 by the academy of pediatrics about it. They found that it was inconclusive and more studies needed to be done. It did back up earlier studies that I found just by doing a google search ( sorry I don't remember the exact study names)but it said that kids taking soy formula are taking up to 5 estrogen birth control pills a day compared to regular formula with nothing.

I had given my Daughter soy formula thinking that it was a good choice but after hearing things I checked into it before changing my son and decided instead to put him on Nutramigen ( He has a cows milk allergy)

hopefully this gives you a place to start your info search.

We buy Organic Valley Soy milk- look at their website. If you can, I would highly suggest buying organic- a lot of the food scare issues are not true with organic foods (ie: hormones in milk).

I don't have a website, but unless your children are lactose intolerant, I would keep them on cow's milk. You can find hormone free cows milk. I believe Kemps is still rBGH free, I know Oberweiss is hormone free, maybe even organic. Cows milk is higher in calcium than soy milk. Also, the lower the fat in the milk the more calcium. I don't know much about the estrogen in soy, I think you have to consume a lot of it, but I do personally know 2 young woman who have had breast cancer, and they are both vegetarians and eat a lot of soy. This is purely my own observation, but I was not surprised when I heard of a link.

I think the biggest issue with soy is how its processed. By the time it makes it to the smooth creamy milk form, its not even soy anymore, but a bunch of chemicals and overprocessed stuff that once maybe at one point started off as soy beans.

www.mercola.com is the best site I have found for information on soy products. It breaks it down pretty well.

Me personally, I would never in a million years give my children soy milk, and my oldest has a dairy protein allergy that causes very severe eczema. We limit dairy considerably, they get thier calcium from teh same place cows get it.... from greens. We also use almond milk since rice milk is very high in sugar.
