Does anyone know if you can "skip" your period while on the birth control pill? I heard once a long time ago that you could not take the last week of the pack and start a new one after week 3 and you would miss that cycle. I have never tried it so I wasn't sure if that was true. I have a major event coming up and really need it to not be my time of the month. Thanks!
My OB/Gyn says it is fine. I have really bad Endometriosis and am in tons of pain everytime I get my period, so she keeps me on pack after pack of pills for 6 months, so that I only have 2 periods a year.
I have read a few things that say this can cause Blood Clots, but I have spoken with her about this and she says No, and have had 2 friends aske their Doctors who say no as well.
it's true and not harmful at all.
I'd talk to your ob/gyn about this. I think they can give you an extra week or so of the pill to avoid it coming.
I was told by a GYN that it's fine. There is (or used to be) a birth control that was designed that way. I had asked my GYN about it and she just told me to take my reg b/c pill packs back to back. I would take the placebo pills once every three months so that I would have a period. I never suffered any ill side effects., But, there is really no sure fire way to make sure that you'll skip your period. Unfortunately, it comes whether you want it to or not! :) I would double check with your GYN just to be on the safe side though. I took pills like that quite some time ago, so things may have changed.
