I need some help Mamas. Here are the current utility bills for a 1,056 sq. ft. household of 2 adults and 2 children under 8 years old:

Water - $78.00
Electricity - $122.00
Gas - $90.00
Cable - $78.00

The children have a typical schedule, at school 8-3:30p; home/dinner/baths 4-8:00p; sleep 8-7:00a.m.
One adult is unemployed and stays at home all day nearly every day. The other adult works from home most days.

As best you can, Mamas please let me know if you think these bills are:
Too High
About Right
Low

Thanks in advance!

The water is high. Cable is way more low. We live in Montgomery about 30 mins from you. Our house is roughly double the size of yours. But less people actually live in it. Ours is as follows

Water $125 every other month
Electric $125 a month (comed)
Gas $100 (Nigas)
Cable$150 (Comcast)

I live in a suburb not far from you. just about the exact same amounts, except we have internet, phone and cable tied together and that is $195.00. :Yikes, looking for something else! But break it down into just cable it's probably the same.My house is smaller and now there are us adults and a grown child and our pets. We probably don't do the same amount of laundry, but I like baths for instance and we drink coffee, and have room air conditioners. Does this help anything?

We switched our gas and electric on our primary residence and our rental property and now have a guaranteed savings over comed, peoples and nicor. Guaranteed savings and can earn free gas and electric!

Seems about right to me--we have 5 rental properties and our home and for the amount of people you have in your house, and how often you have adults home, it seems pretty reasonable.

If you are looking to cut down, perhaps have the kids bathe every other day, and minimize overhead lights during daylight hours.
