Where to Donate Toys

I have 3 yr old and 10 mo old boys. Their toys are taking over our house! My husband has a large family so I know he will be getting more toys at Christmas. I would like my son to donate some of his toys. I would like to teach him about giving rather than receiving. Is there anywhere out there I could donate his toys where I could get him a little bit involved or realize that his toys are going to other kids other than just dropping his toys off somewhere and him not really understanding?

Sign up for freecycle, freesources and dupagecountyparent swap. It's a recycling site where people give stuff away, and you can get rid of stuff and you can get a lot of good stuff for free.
Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/, then search for freecycle, freesources groups in towns in your area. Just type in your town, sign up and have fun. It's an awesome site! You get a lot for free and by recycling you help save the environment!

I would highly recommend WINGS a battered women's shelter and/or the PHD baby closet.
The WINGS website is http://www.wingsprogram.com/help.htm or you can contact Dawn Martorano at ____@____.com's site is http://www.sphd.org/ They provide counseling, support and supplies to people with unexpected pregnancies.

Children's units of hospitals or children's hospitals may also be interested.

All of these would be wonderful ways to help out children in need. It is generous of you to want to share.

Babies R Us has a drop box for toys I think. IT's a great idea what your doing to teach your kids about giving to those less fortunate.

Many Local daycare will love them( liek me in lombard).
I donate to National Children Cancer Society. A truck comes and picks up. they have a website and you can see all the kids in need. they resell the toys, furniture etc. but the money goes to kids with cancer. Even though I am a daycare i do get an abundance of certain types of toys( stuffed aniamls, little peopel wtc) and I donate like 4 times a year.

Try to find a local battered women & children's shelter. Most of these ladies leave home with the clothes on their backs and the few things they can quickly carry. The kids would welcome new toys to entertain them.
