Moving Baby (14 Months) to Own Room

First of all, please dont scold me. I know it was not the best thing to do but but my baby sleeps with us. I have a 5 year old that does too but I already know how to handle that problem as she is excited for her new room and I can transition her more slowly and reason with her etc. I know it will be tough but that is NOT what my question is. I swore I would not make the same mistake with the new baby but I always want them in their crib with us for the first year. That would never change as I have read that SIDS is less of a risk if they...

Any Hairdressers with Good Coloring Knowledge? or Similar Situation Pls Advise!

I have naturally medium to light ash blonde hair. Ive been coloring it a more "yellowy" blonde since I was 12. Im at the point where Im ok with the natural color of my hair & want it back, but its quite long, very thick & straight & shows my failed attempts with color matching it to grow out. i dont like sitting in the hair salon, so Im doing this all myself. Ive tried, last two colors, to buy 1st med, then dark ash blonde, but my hair takes on a coppery golden no matter what. (I have a profile pic on here with the current color, looking...

Can I Make It to a Hospital 1Hr and 26Mins Away When I Go into Labor?

This is my 1st pregnancy and I'm 1hr away from the nearest Kaiser hospital. I have no idea how contractions work. I know everyones different but I also know that I probably won't deliver within the 1st hour of feeling contractions. But will I make it a whole hour? With my boyfriend who's a smoker? I jus don't know if I can make it to the hospital! Trying to figure out what I can do since after 37 weeks she could come at anytime. If we get a hotel the day before my due date what if she doesn't come till a week after? I appreciate any advice...

My Son Got Made Fun of for the First Time in Front of Me :(

This is really bugging me. My twin sons just turned 3 1/2. They are fraternal and look very different. One of my sons is very conventionally handsome. My other son is uniquely handsome. He has big beautiful eyes and he is cute in a elfin kind of way. I think he is adorable and so do others that know him. He has a recessed chin and a very prominent overbite/malocclusion that we plan to get fixed ASAP. He has sucked his thumb from a young age. Anyway, we were at a hotel yesterday and another kid said he was funny looking right in front of us,...

Memory Foam Mattress for a Child?

It's time to transition my 4 yr old daughter from a toddler bed to a twin bed. I am considering a memory foam mattress on top of a platform bed. Wanted to get advice. Is it safe? Will there be enough support for their developing bodies? Could it get too hot? thanks in advance for your two cents. PS: Reasoning - i thought that since i luv my memory foam mattress so much, i should get one for my kids too.

Diapering Through the Night?

Hi everyone! My 8 month old is mostly sleeping through the night (yea!!!) but, a fair amount of the time, he wakes up with his clothes soaked in urine. poor guy!! I'm using Huggies disposable diapers, size 4. He weighs about 18 lbs, so the diapers are one step up already (the box says 22lbs) What else can I use to keep him dry through the night? Thanks!

Parents Choice Formula and Diapers.

Just curious how many of you actually buy and use Parents Choice Formula and Diapers. Currently we are using Symalac for forumula and Huggies for diapers. My husband would like to try the Parents Choice because mainly it's cheaper than what we currently buy. Just trying to get some opinions on what others think about the products. Thanks! :)

Time to Exercise?????????

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how other busy moms find the time to work exercise into their busy schedules. I get up every morning at 6:30 to get my older son up and ready for school and then have to get myself and the baby ready to go for the day. Ideally I get my shower before he gets up as it's just too hard to try and get it done once he's up for the day. He's usually up by 7 or 7:30. The hubby gets up either at 5 to be at work by 6, or around 7ish to be at work by 8. I usually leave around 8 or 9 and don't get back home til 7...

Is This Symptoms of Teething?

My 7 month old son is just getting his first two bottom teeth. At first I was giving him tylenol and that really did the trick for his fussiness/pain. Now he yells at a high pitch/or baby talking all day but when I pick him up or look at him he stops. He really doesn't seem like he's in pain.He doesn't like things like the cold teether and tylenol isn't working. Any suggestions? I'm afraid to use teething tablets because of the belladonna in it?

Nervous Wreck-baby Constantly Getting Sick and Growth Has Leveled Off

My nearly 9 month old son has had one virus after the next ever since he started day care (three days a week). Though he is very petite (my husband and i come from a long line of shrimps) he was gaining along his little curve just fine until these illnesses began. It started with the croup, and then it has really just been cold after cold with only small breaks of wellness in between for almost two months. No ear infections though. He was fine as of Sunday, but now as ANOTHER cold and fever. During this time, he has also started to get very...

Probiotics for a 3Month Old???

My daughter has double ear infections :( I never would have known had she not gotten a goopy eye I thought was pink eye. She didn't complain about that...but she's certainly complaining about the antibiotics. They're tearing her poor little belly up. anyhow- a friend suggested I get probiotics in powdered form (I guess it can be mixed in with my breastmilk in a bottle- which is fine because I pump exclusively but anyhow....) she said it would help tame her little tummy. I have never given probiotics to my children so I'm not so sure. Any...

3 1/2 Year Old Issues on Potty Training & Developmental Delays

My 3 1/2 year old son has absolutely refused to even consider using the potty. We're not pushing him because he's been developmentally delayed - didn't walk until 22 months, now in speech therapy due to speech delays. He watches me and our 6yo daughter (husband is kind of creeped out by having someone watch him go potty LOL) and knows the wipe, flush, and wash hands part of it, acts interested, but the second you ask him if he wants to use the potty, he screams "NOOO! NO WAY!" and runs off. He's been entered into preschool a year early ...

"Off Brand" Disposable Diapers

Updated question: So if I buy the Target brand, and he is wearing a size 5 in the Luv's, what size should I get him from Target? Thanks so much ladies!!!! I usually use cloth diapers, but since my son outgrew the last size, I have not bought more right now. So I am using disposables. I really like Luv's, and they are the cheaper of the "name brand" diapers. I am looking for some feedback on the "off brand" diapers. Like from Target or Kroger. I had some from Walmart when he was a newborn, and he peed right out of them. So I...

Diapers for Sensitive Skin???

A friend of mine has a son that has chronic diaper rash. Everytime he pees, they have to change his diaper or the rash flares up. The docs think it is eczema, and it getting wet it irritating it. The poor little guy scratches all the time and is uncomfy. She has tried Pampers and Huggies diapers, with no luck. We are thinking cloth will make it worse because instead of absorbing the wetness away from the skin, they will just absorb the wetness next to the skin. She has 3 creams that the doc has her putting on him, but it doesn't sound...

Sleep Deprived Eeg-how to Keep Sleep Loving Son Awake??

Mildew Smell in Stored Clothes

I have had some clothes, from my older son, stored for years waiting for my youngest sons to wear. Now is the time, and I have discovered that apparently they got wet. I do not know when, or how long they were sitting wet. They smell very mildewy (?). There is no sign of mold, just the mildew smell, and I can't wash it out. I use Borax in every load of clothes I wash for hidden smells and it hasn't worked for this. I have tried vinegar and all I end up with is clothes that smell like vinegar AND mildew. We even used baking soda and that...
