Best Medicine for 6 Month Old

My 6 month old has a runny nose and a cough for the third time this year. The first and second time I took her to the pediatrician she told me to give her saline drops and let it run its course. A lot of old school moms are saying no, give her Benadryl or Castor oil. What is best?

Should I Change My Pediatrician?

Should I change my pediatrician? We've been seeing the same doctor on a referral since my son was born 5 months ago. I had never met her until we were in the hospital and she was making her rounds. There are a couple of things I'm concerned about. First, she rushes through the visit and, though I'm sure she would answer any questions I have, she doesn't seem to want to spend the time. The second thing is that my son had what I considered serious congestion this past fall. I took him to the doctor and she suggested trying sailene...

What Do I Do for My 3 Year Old's Stuffy Nose???

Hi. Anyone else out there try to buy cold medicine this season for your toddler and finding that evertyhing has been taken off the market for cold medicine for kids under 6? I remember this happening this past year but forgot about it and my little girl has been battling a stuffy nose and cough that has been keeping her up at night so I thought I'd run out to the drugstore for some help and realized there are no medicines for this age group anymore. Does anyone still use this cold medicine and adjust the dosage? I heard that is why they...

How to Break up Phlegm in 4 Year-old

Ok, so last time I posted I asked for help with my mosquito magnet 4 yo. Someone suggested menthol ointment on certain parts of body. I continue to spray my son with bite blocker and now add the menthol ointment, too. We've been doing this every day for weeks since the post. NOT.ONE.BUG.BITE. I swear, it's like a miracle. So, I'm testing my luck again for another miracle. My son gets bad coughing when he catches a cold that disturbs his naps and overnight sleep. He used to have severe breathing issues with a cold (and only with a...

Alternatives to Infant Cold Medication?

Now that all infant cold medication has been pulled from the shelves, what are you giving your under 2-year-olds to relieve them from stuffy, ruuny nose and/or cough? Children's medication is still available, but I have a 9 month old with a cold and not sleeping well. Dr. wants me to bring her in, but it seems silly to do this every time she gets a runny nose. I just want to give her something to help her feel more comfortable during the night. Thanks!

Upper Respiratory Infection

I have a 7 month old daughter and a 3 year old daughter that are both sick. I'm more concerned about my baby because she can't take medicine like my 3 year old can. She is so stuffed up, can hardly breathe, stopped wanting to eat baby food, only will be nursed but not as often as usual, lost a little weight, only wants to be held by mom, not wanting to play, has a very bad cough, just lost her voice today, and doesn't want to sleep but when she does not for long. I keep cleaning her nose by using drops and then use a sucker to clean it out...
