Uggh! My Mother Wants to Be in the Delivery Room!

My mother has once again requested to be in the delivery room to "see" her grandchild being born. We've been through this twice before - both times I said no (with my two prior pregnancies). My mom's take is that this will most likely be her last grandchild and that she has always wanted to see a baby be born, but have never had the opportunity. She even asked her OB if there's any way she could help fulfill this "dream". I get VERY tired of my mom's constant "dreams" and guilt trips. I don't doubt her sincerity, just the...

Need Some Advice

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this kind of situation. I have a friend who has been in a situation that none of us would ever want to be in. Her and her husband became pregnant with her first baby after much trying. They were so excited and looking forward to their new little girl. But she went into premature labor at about 33 weeks and delivered a stilborn baby. It was such a heartbreaking story. Quite a while after that, they were able to get pregnant again. She is now about 3 months along. Her doctor is...

Cord Blood Banking

I'm just starting to research about cord blood banking and was wondering if you did it or if you considered it while you were pregnant? And what were the deciding factors? I am so torn and am not sure which way I'll fall on this decision.

How Accurate Are Home Pregnancy Tests?

I'm a week late (now 8 days) for my period. But the First Response home test (not the digital but the one with the lines) clearly says I'm not pregnant. My husband and I have been "trying" for about 4 months. I'm turning 39 at the end of this month. I had a copper IUD in previously. The month after that came out I had a 30 or 31 day cycle. Then the 3 months after that I had a 24 day cycle (exactly the same each time). Now it's been 32 days and I'm still not having a period. I know that I should just "relax" and wait another 3 days or a week...

Explain a Doula

I had an extremely easy pregnancy the first time around. Now as I plan for round two I am trying to understand what a Doula does. I understand that they provide support for the parents, however, I would benefit from some examples of what they actually do. My understanding is very conceptual at best.

Am I Pregnant

Ok so I took a test by first response and the negative line was dark and clear and the positive line was there but very faint. So I went and bought another test by clear blue easy and it was digital and it literally said the word PREGNANT so I do believe I am pregnant because of that since I have been told that you cannot get a false positive only a false negative. Anyways here is where I get confused, my husband this morning after the first test with the faint line knew that I wanted to confirm with a second test, so he did not know that I...

Father Having Hard Time Accepting Changes from New Baby

I'm the dad, not the mom. I've posted questions before somewhat related to this but wanted to get some fresh perspectives... We just had our third baby boy 2+ months ago. He was a planned birth but didn't arrive until 7 years after his next oldest brother (his oldest brother is 10). After a M/C 3-4 years ago, we decided that we'd just give it a few more years to see if it happened naturally and were about to stop trying when she became pregnant. We were both pleasantly surprised. Since his birth, I've been having a hard time...
