Does anyone have a baby VIDEO monitor they can recommend? I'm looking for one with "night vision" and with a "mobile hand held video screen."

Thank you very much!!

So What Happened?

Wow! It seems that the most favored is the Summer Day/Night VIdeo Monitor. I'll buy that one. Do you know if it's sold at a discounted price anywhere? (Besides Ebay/Craigslist?)

Thank you all very much for your comments!

Hi Kathy,
I have a handheld video monitor with night vision I L.!! It is by BebeSounds and I've had it over 3 yrs. It has 4 channels so you COULD have 4 different cameras. It has night vision and color day vision. I have to admit it doesn't work as well since I've dropped it a few times. I recently received a new one as a gift. It is by Mobi and I don't like it as much. I mainly have this one so I can send my BebeSounds one in for repair. A few things to look for are multiple channels and a fully adjustable camera. The BebeSounds one is SO adjustable and the Mobi one isn't. I can't say enough great things about having a video monitor! I know EXACTLY what time my daughter falls asleep, wakes up and can watch her if she wakes in the night to see if she will settle down. Email if you have ANY questions.
Sincerely,
L.

PS L.,L. my video monitor!!! :0)

We have the Summer monitor. It is great...the only problem has been the volume dial, which can be a bit fussy and only wants to work when it is too loud or too quiet. It is past the warranty, so we just deal with it. Otherwise, we have loved having the video monitor.

We have the bebesounds video monitor purchased at RightStart - we highly recommend it. It works with wireless internet and cordless phones in the house, and has a hand-held monitor which runs on rechargeable batteries or a cord. Good luck!

Hi Kathy,
I also have the Summer one and it is awesome.. I do have to admit that in my tiny house it gets a little staticy once in awhile (but not often enough to complain about and it only lasts a second)... I've found that the further away from the monitor you keep your hand held, the better. But over all, it is GREAT and the night vision is wonderful!

Hi Kathy - I have twin baby girls 20 months and we have loved our monitor. pooped out after 14 months but discovered it was just the power adapter and we got another one (adaptor cord) at radio shack for $20 and it has worked great again since. The monitor itself is from Summer Infant, Inc Model #210A. It may have an improved model by now - ours was 2004. They do warranty it for a year and a 50% warranty for the second year I think (it's a bit pricey) - we got an extra camera also so can watch our twins in seperate rooms with one hand held monitor (switches between stations a and b. WE live in a rural area and it works great - some customer reviewers who lived nearer to airwave interference/cordless phones/ radios etc..had some static but it's been grat for us. good luck with your new little sweet thing!

Hi,

Costco sells the Summer one which I like. This particular one has 2 monitors, one is larger which has clear picture and a small handheld monitor which also has a clear picture. I didn't have any interference problems, and I love them the convenience of having 2 monitors so I don't have to carry it with me everywhere...although the range is still limited. It's on the pricy side ($199) but I love mine. Good luck, and enjoy your time.

I have the Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color video monitor and I love it. A few of my friends tried to go with cheaper versions and they have had problems with them. Most ended up getting this one. Here's the link:

I'm ECHOing everyone else. The Summer one has been great. When my husband requested one for our shower, I thought it was overkill. It is TERRIFIC. Our son is one, and we still find it very helpful!

Hello Kathy!

I just bought my first video monitor and let me tell you what a peace of mind I've had ever since. I too am a first time mommy and have been checking on my baby when she naps probably every 10-15 minutes because it's one thing to be able to hear her, but I was always worried that she would pull her blankie over her head and I wouldn't be able to tell without the video. Mine does not have a hand held monitor, however, we have a very large multi level house and my monitor is so lightweight and portable (screen size is maybe 5x4 inches) that I have just been unplugging it from the wall and taking it room to room and just plug it in where ever I land, it does also have a little handle for this purpose. It does have the night vision and also has sound. I can't tell you how much more at ease I am being able to see my baby girl (10 months) when she naps. I can send you a photo via email if you like. It is made by a company called Summer and I found it at Burlington for $99.00. Target has the same one for $110.00. It is all white with a soft blue colored handle and buttons...in fact I'm using it right now as I'm on the computer :) The night vision is exceptionally clear and can reach far distances, I take it sometimes to my garage (about 50-60 feet away) and it still works great and has a clear picture...it can go as far as 90 -100 feet, I highly recommend it :)

I will add to the Summer vote. I LOVE ours! We actually found it BRAND new still in the box and Babies R Us bag with the receipt, on Craigslist for only $60. We have the handheld, it's a great picture and great monitor!

K.,

I have 2 babies born 10 days short of 11 months apart. We have the baby monitors from Summer. We truly love them. They have 2 channels and a screen to watch the girls as they sleep. We had to buy 2 of them, since we have 2 girls and we can both have a parents monitor, with a clip to clip on pants and can watch both girls from different places in the house. They can also be hooked up so you can watch them on the TV. We bought them at Babies R Us. Best of luck in your decision and purchase.

Hi Kathy, I purchased the summer brand video monitor with a hand-held and it works fantastic, from Baby R Us or Target. I use it out in the yard, in my office down in the basement no problems, long battery life, clear picture and great night vision...you won't miss a minute. So good you will keep checking on her all night long just to make sure she's safe.

My sweetheart was born April 8th, and I still can't get over being a mother.

I have Summer Infant hand-held 2.5 inch color screen--I love it. I will say it has been dropped a few times in the last 20 months and the sound dial is very touchy. But otherwise no issues.

This is the one we use: Safety 1st High-Definition Digital Video Monitor
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3052904
It has a handheld video monitor and night vision and works really well! It's expensive though--$250. The only negative is that the camera base has a button with a blinking green light, I am thinking of covering it up with duct tape so it's not blinking all night in her face.

We also have the Summer video monitor and love it! We ordered ours via http://www.securebaby.com because they had more choices than Babies R Us or Target. We got the 2.5" LCD screen (900 MHz), which I'd recommend for better visability. I believe the hand held monitor is the same size, just has a larger screen than the 1.8" one (that Babies R Us typically carries). Plus SecureBaby's prices are better. So you get more screen for the money!
