HELP Finding a Pediatrician

Hello,

I really need a new pediatrician for my daughter who is 7 months old. Her current doctor just is not cutting it for us. Her office has made several mistakes and they're not patient enough with me as a first-time mom.

I want someone who is within a 15 mile radius of Piscataway, NJ who is patient and has a good reputation. I also want an office that doesn't have too many rotating doctors so my child sees just one or maybe two people at the most and importantly someone who CARES so me and my baby don't feel like cattle! Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. My daughter currently has a rash that one of the rotating doctors in her pediatrician's office (a real problem for us!) says is a heat rash but I want to get a second opinion quickly.

Thanks very much!

-N.

P.S. does anyone know of a good treatment for her rash other than corn starch?

I don't know how far it would be for you, depending on the part of piscataway (I live in S.Plnfd), I go to Watchung Pediatrics in Warren on Sterling road. I LOVE them. They are a large group but for my well visits I always see the same doc. (Dr Knowles) Love her! She is thorough and great w/ my daughter (6 and a half months). She always makes me feel like I'm doing a good job - which has helped me alot. We have an issue that she sent us to a specialist for and we were very greatful for that - he's great too. We also went in alot for weight checks in the first few months. I never really wait for my appts and they have sick walk in hours (the time I went to that I didn't wait either). Here is their website -http://www.watchungpediatrics.com/
If you have any questions, please send me a message!

Hi N.. I live in Piscataway too and we had a nightmare finding the right pediatrician. At first we went to Somerset Pediatrics but the drive was too far and they made us wait in the room for 45 minutes with my stripped down to a diaper newborn SCREAMING baby. THen we tried another pediatrician who again made us wait 45 minutes and her office was dirty. We found Dr. Sitoy ###-###-#### right in S. Plainfield, thanks to a recommendation. He is quiet, but very gentle and "old school". He is hesitant of the newer medications and vaccines so you have to be ok with that. He is very caring and loving. Good luck with your decision, I know its not easy.

I take my daughter to University Pediatrics, and they have offices in both Highland Park and East Brunswick-she's been to both, as I work at Rutgers in Piscataway and live in Sayreville. I like all the doctors so far, but you can choose someone to be her primary doctor; you just may have to be extra careful in scheduling, as they rotate between offices. Who are you seeing now?

As for the rash, is it itchy? Aveeno makes some oatmeal-based lotions and bath treatments for itchy rashes. Aloe vera is supposed to be soothing, too.

We really like the pediatricians at MidJersey Pediatrics in East Brunswick. It's a big practice, but we don't have problems with scheduling appointments with our three favorites:
Dr. Sweberg, Dr. Booker and Dr. Cambria.

For first time mom, I suggest Booker or Sweberg - they give a lot of practical advise.

hi there -

I am not sure how close Metuchen is for you but I think it should be about a 10 minute ride at the most. I go to Pediatric Associates located on Main Street in Metuchen. There are 3 doctors in the practice and they are all excellent. I have been taking my 2 girls there since they were born. They also have hours on Saturdays & Sundays if you need, and believe me, we have needed it in the past! I find everyone to be kid-friendly, the doctors are thorough and patient. They did diagnose a problem with my little one that was pretty serious and we were able to catch it in time before any damage was done. As for the rash, if it is in the diaper area my pediatrician had recommended this stuff called Triple Paste - it's found in most drug stores but you might have to ask for it behind the counter...it's very good stuff, a little expensive but worth it.

Dr. Peter C. Freis. 443 Middlesex Avenue. Metuchen is really good. I also hear that Metuchen Pediatrics is good.

I use Aveeno baby rash ointment and the rash is gone by the next morning.
