Has anyone been to the Gaylord Texan for the ICE! exhibit? We're thinking of taking our children & I'd love hear from some mommas who've been.

Thanks!

We went last year and my kids (then 6 and 4) LOVED it! It's worth it- but then again, my mom paid. :)

I have been, but not with kids. I know my niece went w/ my parents a few years ago and liked it...i think she was maybe 10. I was disappointed in what we got for our money. BUT i do think it is something cool to do ONCE. with that said, may be worth waiting until the 2nd is a little older??

I went 2 years ago with a church group. It was really pretty and neat to see, but not worth the cost. Parking is about $10, and the tix are expensive for the actual event. I don't think I'll ever go again unless I get free tickets. If you do go, though, know that they give you parkas to wear b/c they keep it at 9 degrees F inside. The ice slides were fun. I'd rather do something else like look at Christmas lights and shows, though.

It's incredible and i highly recommend it. We went two years ago with our boys(then 5 and 10) and grandparents and everyone loved it! Walking through the hotel in a wonderful experience and the ICE is amazing. There is a slide of ice that is really fun.

The Gaylord itself is worth going to (you will have to pay $10 to park there) but I wouldn't advice taking your 2 youngest...it's sooo not worth the money for them (not even sure if they may be free). It's beautiful and we took lots of pictures but it's REALLY cold and my 5 year old daughter got bored really quickly and wanted to keep walking and we went through it in no time and she had on nice flats with no socks so she was crying how cold she was. We didn't plan on going in so that's why she wasn't dressed appropriately but it still wasn't worth the money for her. My 8 year old son loved it and didn't want to leave. The slide is alot of fun and we did take alot of pics. I would NEVER take a baby in there! A 2 month old??? NEVER!! They don't get anything out of it other than freezing. Maybe one of you can stay out with the 2 younger ones and walk around the hotel instead. I did see a father with a baby in there and it just cried and cried. Why would anyone do that???? Well good luck with your decision and happy holidays!

Yes. We went last year. It was really great. Make sure everyone is bundled up from head to toe because it is really cold. By the time we left my feet were frozen! Definitely bring the camera.

We took the kids to see it last year and it was really pretty. They had fun sliding down the ice but it was really cold. We went on a Saturday, and they happened to have some live music going on and my kids really enjoyed that too. The resort is beautiful during this time of year, it's great for pictures too. Have fun!

I have not been but was planning on trying to go this year. I have a friend that took her 4 and 2 yo last year and said they loved it so based on her review we are gonna try and do it. You can order tix online and pick your time of entry so you won't have to wait as long. I know you can show up and do it but they only let so many people in at a time so that it doesn't get too crowded (or warm haha) and if you get there and that time slot is full you're gonna be waiting around till the next slot opens up. If you look online I bet you can find coupon codes for buying tix to help make it a little cheaper. My friend found some in the Ft. Worth paper recently. The resort is gorgeous (I have stayed there before and it was pretty without holiday decor). You get a coupon for free hot chocolate when you get out of the ICE exhibit so that is fun too. Don't plan on eating there FYI it is crazy expensive.

I have not been and was thinking of taking my almost 3 year old next weekend. I happened to be at the Gaylord last weekend for something unrelated and asked several people with kids as they left. They all said that it was fun for older kids, closer to 5 or up, but younger kids were bored, COLD, and uninterested. They also said that even though ICE provides parkas, dress the kids in layers so that you can put them on last minute an take them off when you leave. With all that being said, we will wait until next year to go for our family. At almost $30 a ticket, I want it to be more worthwhile than what those people suggested it might be for our boy.

My mother and I went with my two little girls. Ages 3.5 and 18 months. It was beautiful. My mom and I really enjoyed and there was no wait at all. We went on a saturday too. 3 and under get in free. Parking is validated when you get your tickets at the ICE window. They had amazing sculptures and my oldest daughter wanted to go again. I think it is well worth the money and the girls had a lot of fun. My mom said she liked it and we loved sliding down the ice slide.
