Hi, I am nearing 40 and have dry/combo skin with large pores. I am searching for a new "miracle" product! A foundation and/or powder that doesn't settle into wrinkles & pores. And a good hydrating moisturizer too! I am looking for ideas of drugstore/dept store products, please! No home business like Mary Kay/Avon/Arbonne, etch..I have tried those all. Thanks!

I like Dr. Patricia Wexler's products. She is a well known dermatologist. The line addresses all skin issues from acne to anti-aging. They sell them at Bath & Body Works for a reasonable price. Kate Sommerville (facialist in Hollywood - has many celebrity clientele) has good products too but they are pricier.

I have found the Oil of Olay products to be really good, but now I use products from Mary Kay. I really have had good results and my skin really looks the best is has in years. I am 40 myself and definitely have used these products for the last 10 years. Mary Kay representatives have samples of products for you to try which makes it better than buying and not being satisfied and wasting that money. Hope this helps.

I love the make-up, cleansers and moisturizers that Costco is making and marketing under the Kirkland brand. Inexpensive and nice on my skin, I recently switched from the liquid foundation to the powder, mineral type and really like the look and feel - very natural with no creasing!

Good Morning N.,

I can't see your face, but what you described sounds like to me you may have food allergies. Many of the problems that we have are manifestations of something that we rarely consider, food allergies. Most if not all skin problems are manifestations of food allergies. I recommend that you log onto site NAET.com and locate a NAET allergist near your home and be tested for food allergies. NAET.com is a group of allergists around the world who ELIMINATE allergies. As far as I know, they are currently the only ones who eliminate allergies.

Matter of fact, I just had another treatment for my allergies yesterday and I did notice about 6 hours after my treatment, my skin appeared softer.

If you have any questions, I can answer them, ____@____.com, but I suggest you just jump in the NAET water and get tested, the fee is nominal for testing or free depending on the NAET allergist. Also, you can go to Amazon.com and locate the book Say Goodbye To Illness by Dr. Devi Nambudripad, she is the doctor who created NAET.

Also, I use origins on my face. I don't use anything but Origins. It may work for you. You can find Origins at some malls or online.

Be Well.

N.

Hi,
Kiehl's makes great products. www.kiehls.com

Or, I hear a lot about "Bare Minerals" make up.

I'm a little older than you (I'm already of the 40's age bracket)....and to be honest, the older you get the less make-up you put, looks better. If you can get away without using 'foundation', then do so. For me, I only use a transparent face powder on my face, over a sunscreen/face lotion underneath. I just use the basic "Corn Silk" powder from my local drug store.

Also, for your pores and just over all face 'beauty', trying doing a facial mask at least once a week. And, also a face 'scrub' thing... Clinique, has a great 7-Day face scrub that can be used everyday. It keeps the skin new looking and refined. I like it.

My sister who is older than me, LOVES Kiehl's products, and she gives me her samples, which I use. I really like it too.

All the best and good luck,
Susan

Hi N.,
I'm about your same age with dry-combo skin and large pores too.
Right now I am loving When Hope is Not Enough (Philosphy) for the really dry areas and Clinique Anti-Gravity face cream and eye cream for the rest.
Also, to solve the problem with pores, I changed my makeup routine to just concealer over the red areas, then I am using Philosophy powder makeup (applied lightly with a brush and not the supplied sponge), then some touchups with Clinique pressed powder if needed. This has been working pretty good. The Clinique pressed powder is really great - makes everything look smoothed out.
Hope this gives you some ideas! :)

my best friend who was 59 years of age taught me this...
do not smoke. and do eat your food prepared with the freshest ingredients (grains Fruits and veggies and meats, etc, from scratch) available to you. do not use canned or bottled foods except in an emergency. and do use any lotion in all your body just before going to sleep or after bathing. My friend used vaseline straight from the jar, and both my grandmas used any kind of oil they could get their hand on , olive, corn, almonds, the natural oils that is)vaseline in cold weatherin your face will protect you tops.my grandmas and friend their skin and their body's was like that of a missy. these same advice was given to me by my paternal
aunts. I'm 54 years of age and the most thing I do to myself is dye my hair everyone to two months. also try to take care of all your problems best you can and if you can't, just don't take them to bed with you. my paternal grand mother also spent a lot of her hard earned money in all the beauty products she could get in her lifetime and concluded there is no miracle best than taking care from the inside out. so in addition to what I already stated drink lots of water with a minimal amount of at least 2 quarts a day, not in one big sip but in well spaced small sips spaced troughout the day. also smile a lot and presume of any face lines you might have since those indicate you are alive! my mother is 75 years of age and takes one capsule of omega 3 oil(may include vitamin e and or fish oil), before this she was so itchy and went from dermatologist a-thru-z and all they wanted was her money. cream this cream that etc. another thing my mother uses is keri lotion. good luck to you, from an old school girl!

I just read an article the other day about this. (If I can find it, I will post the link.) It stated in there that the best way to determine your skin type is to visit a dermatologist and find out exactly what your skin type is. Often times we use the wrong products for the wrong skin type and that causes a lot of the issues we have. Most people tend to think their skin is dry and use heavier moisturizers which actually cause the pores to become larger. Hope this helps.

N. I can absolutely relate, I have the same type of skin. Some parts are really dry, some oily, and some combo areas all at once. Fortunately since I've been with Sensaria Natural Bodycare I use their products which have a specific facial system for every skin type.

We have a Nourishing Facial System which is amazing for dry skin, the moisturizer keeps your face hydrated all day long (I use this on my son it also works well for his exzema). They also have a Balancing Cleanser which is specific for those with combination skin like you and other systems to choose from.

The great thing is that we have a very reasonable package that offers your cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and a repair product to take care of fine lines and wrinkles. Email me if you would like to try a sample and visit the website www.sensaria.com/pamper.me I'm sure you'll find what you need. Best wishes!

Hi N..

I know just what you mean...

40 snuck up on me and is now almost 3 years behind me.

I use a botanical and vitamin strength line with N. Miller. I love her products. There is one particular one that is an age defying cream. It really works well and is not too costly.

Let me know if you are interested in learning more about it.

The store I shop at has a 60 day 100% total no matter what satisfaction guarantee. And it is shop by invitation only...word of mouth. If you would like to see more let me know. (I get credit for my referrals woo hoo! You could too if that was something that interested you)

I love my skin now... I do not see any large pores and never have breakouts like I once did. Soft, and smooth and the wrinkles have virtually diminished.

Be in touch.

Hi N.,
First, there really isn't any miracle product but rather great products that use miracle ingredients. I figure if they are from the safest and healthiest source and then the science and technology we have is used to create a product that has RESULTS- we are on the right track.

I am 49 (this past Dec.) and I am still being told I look 40- God blessed me with some good genes, but I also feel great these last 4 years using my new products!

Educating myself on what actually goes into what the world of cosmetics tries to sell us, led me to ARBONNE.

Withing 3 days my crows feet started to soften (not just be covered) and even my husband could "feel" the difference.

Now, I am using the whole regime (at huge savings) realizing it last 4-5 months for each product.

See for yourself- either send me an email or register as a client and I will send you 3-day Supply ($15) FREE!!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Blessings,
D.

So you are probably going to get 100 responses of everyone telling you theirs is the best. Well I will start it differently to share my story and then why Sensaria is different. I have experienced acne since I was 12 and I am now 50. My pores were so big you could eat cereal out of them (very gross but gets the picture across), cystic, you name it. Tried everything and did regular professional facials where they would have to charge me extra for the time spent doing extractions.

It turns out that the ingredients in a lot of products were not good for me and for the past seven years I have been acne free with only a very occasional breakout which now clears up after a day or two. Most products contain harsh cleansers (sodium laurel sulfates) and just about EVERYTHING contains mineral oil or petroleums for moisturizing. The biggest offender for me is when alcohol, synthetic perfume or dyes are used. These all are bad for your skin and especially for your face as that is more delicate than the body yet exposed to more elements.

Whatever you use, there are five steps that are important: one is to cleanse twice a day, two is to use a toner (a must!), three to moisturize (especially with oily skin - didn't expect that I bet. When you don't moisturize, you are telling the oil glands to make more oil and if you have blockage on the surface you will have pimples), four is a good mask to use at least once a week, and the fifth step is a good sunscreen for the face. (I explain at a spa class, in a fun way, why you need these steps.)

Sensaria Natural Bodycare has a Basic System which has a cleanser, toner, moisturizer for $45 and will last you three to six months AND has a one-year guarantee AND is made in the USA (what is that, about .15 a day). A fun way to try the products is through a spa experience. I come to your home, you invite some of your favorite girlfriends over, and we play with the products. This is so fun and you get to try it beforehand. You, as the 'host' will earn free and half off products, of your choice.

What happened to me is that after a couple of weeks, I had a glow coming to my skin, after two months I did not have to wear makeup anymore and after six months my acne was gone. Today, you would think my skin was at least ten years younger with the scaring and sun damage gone. I still spend a lot of time out there but make sure that I use our sunscreen on the face every morning.
