Reaction to Albuterol

Hello, Mamas! I need some feedback. Our 3 year old son has asthma issues only when he has a respiratory illness. During those time, we have successfully given him his albuterol inhaler as a daily treatment for the wheezing and coughing until the illness subsides and he no longer needs it. That lasts maybe a week at the most. It's been over 10 months since the last time he had to use the inhaler, and we had to use it last night. However, within about 5 minutes, he started itching on his legs like crazy and the left side of face got...

Can I Give Liquid Albuterol and Benedryl to My 2Month Old?

Obviously, I'd call her doctor if was around or a pharmacist but they're all closed. My daughter was prescribed liquid albuterol for her cough on Friday but its not doing anything for her head congestion and the cough is still around also. I gave her dose of albuterol at 420 I was gonna skip the next dose and give her the benedryl instead. Her doctor did tell me give it to her as needed. Just curious if they have interactions or how I could find out if they are ok to mix for a infant. Thanks!

3 Year Old with Low Oxygen Saturation Levels.

My son is 3, and has been very healthy and active, he has stayed at home until now. We started him in daycare 3 days a week in February (purposefully waited until flu season was almost over). Since he started school he has been sick several times, mostly with upper respiratory infections. Last month he started with a runny nose, fever and then a cough that would not go away so we took him to the pediatrician they said his ears were a little red and I was shocked when they checked his oxygen level it was 83%. They put him on an antibiotic,...

He had been on amoxillan for 1 week 3 months ago, and a nebulizer 4 times daily(bronchodialator) for the past month and now to only 1 time a day (steroid) until March 07 Augh!!. 22 Month on Albuterol for More than 2 Weeks

My son was hospitalized over 2 weeks ago for his breathing issues. When he got out we went about a week and a half with albuterol treatment about twice a day. When I was certain his breathing was back to normal I stopped the treatment. The very next day he is sick again and I noticed really fast breathing timed his breathing and he was over 40 breaths per minute, did a breathing treatment and called the pediatrician in the morning. He added a month steroid given through the nebulous or and children's Allegra and said continue with the...

Son's Asthma Medications

My son was treated for exercise induced asthma back in Spring '08 - and given an albuterol inhaler to take as needed. He continued to have more trouble as the summer progesses and we then visited a pulmonologist, where he was diagnosed with mild asthma. He was put on a preventative (flovent) morning and night plus the albuterol before exercise. Late summer/early fall he developed a chronic cough, and after visits with the pediatrician and the pulmonologists and chest xrays - his medication was increased to advair 250/50 and is now on the...

6 Month Old Infant on Albuterol for Wheezing and Cough. Side Effects Are Crazy!

Does anyone have any info on giving a child oral Albuterol. She has a seemingly productive cough but no other cold symptoms. Doctor told me it was a virus and prescribed oral Albuterol. Pharmacist said that it would make her hyper but I wasnt prepared for how hyper she would become. It is like having a baby on speed. I would consider stopping the treatment but want to know if anyone has similiar situation. Doctor seemed to have diagnosed her in 20 seconds. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Soothing a Cough

My daughters have had several colds this winter, but their latest one is lingering in the form of a nasty cough. My elder daughter is almost 3 and she will cough so hard that she gags. This is making her very cranky during the day and wakes her up three or four times a night. I am just wondering if anyone has suggestions for soothing her cough.
