Husband Can't Soothe 6 Week Old - Mom Has No Break - Any Ideas?

Hi Ladies, I am writing to find out your experiences so that I can share them with my Husband. I stay at home with our new six week old daughter whom I adore beyond belief. I am at her beckon cry because that is what you are supposed to do when they are this little :) I breastfeed but pump a bottle every couple days so that my husband can feed her once in a while. She is still waking up at night on average every 2.5 to 3 hours, sometime a little longer or shorter, we got our first 4ish hours stretch a couple of nights ago - yeah! ...

Four Month Sleeps in Swing

My four and half month old daughter has always been a really bad sleeper. She needs constant movement to stay asleep. She has been sleeping in a cradle swing for almost two months now. We know she is going to eventually grow too big for the swing but we have tried everything ween her. We recently saw the pedi who was visibly appalled that she is still sleeping in a swing. She will sleep in her crib (at night and during the day) for exactly 40 minutes and then wake up. We have tried music, rocking ,jiggling , bouncing, reading, noise...

Colic Baby Help Please!

Hey mamas! My good friend has a 9 wk old son with really bad colic. He was born 5 wks early but didn't have any problems and has caught up in weight. He seems to have bad gas and reflux which makes things worse. She's been nursing and giving him formula to keep his weight on. I feel so sorry for her because he wakes up sometimes every hour at night and cries all the time. I can't give much advice because my daughter never had these issues. She's tried gripe water, Highland's colic tablets, he's on reflux medicine, and she...

Need Help with a Sleep Method or Book to Purchase for My Son

I desperately need advice from all you experienced Mom's on a good book to buy to create a sleepful night for my 5 month old son. We really have not focused on any sleep pattern until now because he is currently recovering from open heart surgery that he had on 11/26. He was born with a congential heart defect and up until his surgery we could not let him cry (can you believe that?) Now that he can cry (and is making up for lost time) I am desperate to get him to sleep better and without us with him. We did whatever it took to stop his...

Book Suggestions for Activities with Newborn

Hello Mommies! I have a 2 month old and she now stays awake most of the day. I want to make the most of our time together during the day but I have no idea what sorts of activities I can be doing with her at this age. We read and talk and sing but I don't know many nursery songs. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of a good book that I can reference? Thanks!

Stopping Thumb Sucking

My 8 month old started sucking her thumb at 5 months. My husband and I have tried to discourage her by taking it out of her mouth every time we see her with it in her mouth, tried putting band aids on her thumbs but she doesn't mind them, tried using Thum but again she doesn't mind it. We just noticed a change in the shape of her mouth, which we thought wouldn't happen for quite some time. We are not comfortable with 'just letting her suck her thumb' and figure it should be easier to stop the habit before it goes on too long. Has anyone...

Separation Anxiety at Almost 4 Years Old?

My daughter has always been more of a shy, reserved, and sensitive kid and my husband and I have always respected that and tried to work with her. Lately, however, she has had increasing anxiety about being away from us. Even in our own house, she will get upset if we are out of the room too long and not in sight at all times. She previously was just fine alone around her grandparents but now she doesn't want to be with them unless we are around. When we get in the car, she doesn't want to get in until right before I get in and if I don...
