Getting Depressed Wondering If I'll Be Able to Handle My Child...

I am so worn out, and I don't know if it's because my 13 week old daughter is completely "normal" in her behavior, or if she already has a "challenging" personality. I always heard from friends that the first 3 or 4 months of life were the hardest, but my mom and MIL both make comments such as "she really knows what she wants" and "she's going to be hard to discipline once she gets to that age" which really worries me. Some of the reasons our parents have been a little negative are that our baby - suddenly started refusing bottles when...

How to Throw a 3 Year Old a Birthday Party?

I don't know how to throw my daughter her 3 year party (October 25th). The last two years have been close family only, and I was fine with that. But since my B-day in mid-August, Arden is running around singing happy birthday to herself almost every day...the time has come. Thing is, all of the 1,2,and 3 year old parties I've attended have been for both parents and kids (and I mean BOTH parents). These are typically held in the late afternoon/eve, and invlove lots of alcohol, the guys gathering to themselves, and the moms taking care of...

Weaning from the Bottle!

I have MANY questions about the weaning from the bottles process. HELP! I know my doctor will probably help me at his one year appointment, but I'm just wondering... 1. What age did you start this? I heard 12 months, but my son is 11 months and unless he makes super human strides in 1 month, I can't see how he'd be ready!! He LOVES his bottle! 2. Did you switch directly over to whole milk or did you mix the milk and formula at first? 3. How did you do this? Drop one bottle a day? Then two? Leaving the morning and night last? ...

Speech Therapy Resource Referral

My 2 1/2 year old boy's pediatrician recommended that we do speech therapy for him. He has the words but cannot put a sentence together. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest any DVD, books or other materials that can used at home for speech development. Right now, we cannot afford expensive therapy and also the therapists are farther away and we have just 1 car!! Thanks so much for your help.

Booster Seat for Feeding

Hi Moms - My daughter has started solids, and we've been feeding her while she is in her Bumbo. That's working for now, but I know soon I'll need a better solution. We live in a small condo so I was thinking about getting a booster to put on one of our dining chairs, instead of a high chair. I was looking at The First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Feeding Seat, but I know Safety 1st also makes a bunch. Any recommendations on there on either of these? Or any other ones? Thanks!

What Can I Do If My 15 Month Old Won't Sit in a High Chair

When I put my 15 month old in a high chair, within five minutes he starts screaming and wants to get out. Instead I feed him while he is playing or walking around. He will come up and I will feed him or he will sit on my lap and eat himself. He seems content to eat this way, but surely it can't go on like this. What can I do? This morning we tried to keep him in his chair even if he screamed but then he wouldn't touch his food, so we took him out and then he was crying because I wouldn't give him his food while he is out of the chair. ...

Help with Teething

Hey moms, need a little help here. My 5 month old has started teething I believe. She drools, puts everything in her mouth, and for the past 3 days has had a temperature from 99.7 to 100.9. I give her Tylenol, but sometimes it does not help. How long does this last. She is not a fussy baby at all. She only cries if I don't get her her bottle quick enough and after her shots. Right now though she is crying all the time. Sometimes I can't put her down and the normal things that sooth her are not working. I guess my question is how do...

5 1/2 Month Old Turning onto Tummy, Not Able to Fall Back Asleep in Crib

Hi, My 5 1/2 month baby boy was doing pretty well at sleeping through the night or would be able to cry/self-soothe himself back to sleep after waking up. This past week, he started rolling from his back onto his tummy in his crib. When he wakes up and does this, he can't fall back asleep and will scream until one of us comes into his room to help him turn back over. Then we will have to rock or nurse him to sleep. Sometimes he will wake up two or three times during the night now. Anyone else go through a similar situation or have...
